John B. Dey has earned the reputation of being a school of excellence. During the past 10 years our students have exceeded the state benchmarks on the Virginia Standards of Learning and continue to excel in academic requirements at all grade levels. We are honored to be the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence.
In order to meet the diverse needs of our students, JBD’s enthusiastic teaching team continues to expand their own learning through their participation in ongoing staff development, and course work. Additionally, our teachers share creative strategies and ideas through established professional learning communities within the school.
Our students greatly benefit from the many opportunities in which teachers creatively integrate the use technology in daily lessons. We are most proud of being awarded “Regional Technology School of the Year” through WHRO.
Teamwork is the foundation of an exemplary school. Our school flourishes due to the active involvement of our team members: students, parents, community, and staff. The National PTA recently recognized John B. Dey as a School of Excellence for Parental Involvement. This special honor is a significant accomplishment and is the result of many individuals working diligently to make our school a wonderful environment for our children. JBD's award winning PTA continually supports our school through a wide range of activities and programs.
